  3. Replace a legacy system
Situation · Legacy system · Berlin & Germany-wide

Your standalone system talks to no one.We connect it – or replace it cleanly.

First we check whether your existing system can be connected – the job is rarely replacement, it’s connection. If it has to go, the first productive release for a clearly defined process is ready in six to twelve weeks.

01

The situation

An old Access program, a home-grown database or an industry tool introduced years ago – and it doesn’t talk to any other system. Data moves between programs by copy and paste, the same orders are entered several times, and Excel lists and yet more tools grow up around the standalone system: a tool zoo.

Typical sign: only one person still knows how the old system really works – if they’re away, the process stops. And every new tool you want to introduce fails because there’s no interface.

02

Our solution

We start with an assessment: architecture, dependencies, open security issues and the quality of your data. Then we tell you honestly whether the system can be developed further, connected or only rebuilt – and we recommend a standard tool if one solves the problem. Proven systems stay as long as they do their job.

Typical connections are ERP and inventory systems, CRM, accounting and tax advisers, payment providers, calendars, email and document storage – preferably via documented REST interfaces and webhooks. Without an open interface we first check scheduled exports, a file drop or read-only database access before we commit to an integration. For every field we define which system is the source of truth.

Process & details

Five steps from legacy system to connected solution:

  1. 01Process analysis
  2. 02MVP scoping
  3. 03Design & prototype
  4. 04Development in stages
  5. 05Operations & growth

Tell us briefly which system you want to replace, which systems it would need to exchange data with and who uses it. We plan the data migration early rather than at the end – legacy data is rarely clean, and a clean-up discovered late delays the launch. A switch-off date for the old system belongs in the plan from day one, otherwise you have two versions of the truth.

What you get

This is what you get.

Every line is on our service page – nothing we don’t deliver.

  1. 01

    Assessment of the legacy system

Architecture, dependencies, open security issues and data quality – with an honest recommendation: develop further, connect or rebuild.

  2. 02

    Interfaces

ERP, inventory, CRM, accounting, payment providers, calendars and email – preferably via REST and webhooks, otherwise via export and import routes.

  3. 03

    Data migration

Legacy data checked and cleaned early; for every field we define which system leads.

  4. 04

    Clickable prototype

Your team sees and comments on the new interface before any production code is written.

  5. 05

    Handover without lock-in

Code, data and documentation belong to you; hosting in German data centres or on your own infrastructure.

Process

Four steps to the finish.

From the first call to the handover.

  1. 01

    Intro call

15 minutes, free. Which system, which data, which interfaces are missing today?

  2. 02

    Analysis & fixed quote

Assessment, a prioritised bottleneck list and a fixed quote with no hidden items.

  3. 03

    Delivery in stages

Prototype, interfaces and data migration in short cycles with testable interim versions.

  4. 04

    Switch-over & operations

Start with one team or site, a switch-off date for the old system, then hosting, updates and growth.

Questions from search

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I replace a legacy or standalone system?

Start with an assessment: what does the system do, what data does it hold, what does it need to connect to? Often a connection is enough. If it has to be replaced, we plan the data migration from the start.

  • Can our old system be connected even though it has no interface?

Often yes – via scheduled exports, a file drop or read-only database access. That’s less elegant than an API, but reliable and considerably cheaper than replacing the system.

  • Do you take over an existing application instead of rebuilding it?

Yes, if the code is readable and the database is understandable. After assessing architecture, dependencies and security gaps, we tell you honestly: develop further or rebuild.

  • What happens to our legacy data?

We review it as soon as the data scope of the new solution is defined. Cleaning it up is a separate item and is planned early, not at the end.

  • Who owns the new solution?

You do: code, data and documentation. There’s no licence that expires and no key we keep.
