WordPress Agency · Berlin
WordPress agency Berlin: custom-built, not drag-and-dropped.
WordPress can do more than a site builder – when it’s built right.
KULIMO is a WordPress agency in Berlin building WordPress websites for companies in Berlin and across Germany: a custom theme instead of a purchased template, hand-written code instead of page-builder bloat, Core Web Vitals performance, accessibility under the BFSG (Germany’s Accessibility Strengthening Act), and hosting in Germany. At a fixed price from €1,270 – after a free 15-minute intro call.

An honest assessment
When WordPress is the right choice – and when it’s not.
We recommend the system, not the reflex.
WordPress is the most widely used content management system in the world – and also the one most often built badly. The difference isn’t the system; it’s who builds it and how. A purchased theme with 40 plugins and a page builder gets you a website in weeks that turns slow, insecure, and unmaintainable within months.
WordPress fits when your team should manage content itself on a regular basis, when a blog, guides, or news are part of your visibility strategy, when you need a shop (WooCommerce), multiple languages, or booking features – and when you want a system that will still have developers available ten years from now.
WordPress doesn’t fit when your website is at its core an application – a customer portal, a CRM, a platform with user accounts and complex logic. For that, we build a web app with Next.js, React, and TypeScript. And if a landing page needs to be live in seven days, hand-written code without a CMS is often the faster, leaner solution.
That’s why every project with us starts with the goal, not the tool. If the answer is WordPress, we build it to carry you for years to come.

Technology that lasts
How we build WordPress the right way
- A custom theme, not a purchased template: only the code your website needs – not 200 options nobody uses.
- The block editor instead of a page builder: content as clean, structured blocks; no dependency on Elementor, Divi, or WPBakery, no license that eventually runs out.
- As few plugins as possible: every plugin adds attack surface and load time. Whatever we need, we usually build ourselves.
- Core Web Vitals as an acceptance criterion: optimized images (WebP/AVIF), lazy loading, critical CSS, no render-blocking resources – measured before launch, not hoped for.
- Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA: contrast, keyboard navigation, focus, semantic structure – legally required for many companies since June 28, 2025 (BFSG).
- GDPR from the start: locally hosted fonts, no unsolicited third-party requests, consent only where needed, forms with purpose limitation.
- Hosting in Germany: with partners such as IONOS, Strato, All-Inkl, or Hetzner – with HTTPS and a current PHP version.
- A clean handover: CMS training, documentation, personal logins. The website belongs to you – including all files and access credentials.

Two revision rounds per phase are included.
Analysis & consulting
A free intro call: goals, target audiences, existing content, competitors, budget range. Then a fixed-price quote with scope and timeline.
Concept & structure
Site architecture, user journeys, keyword mapping per page, content plan. This is where it’s decided whether the website gets found later – not in the design.

Custom theme, Gutenberg blocks, features, integrations. You review the build before launch and sign it off.
Testing & launch
Browser and device testing, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, forms, redirects, tracking. Go-live on the agreed date.

Four weeks of fine-tuning after launch, a review after three months, and, if you like, ongoing WordPress maintenance at a fixed monthly price.

The four factors that determine the price: the number of page types (not pages), the state of your content (are copy and images ready?), features beyond presentation (shop, booking, integrations), and how custom the design is. CMS comparison
WordPress, Webflow, Framer, or custom code?
We work with all four – which is why we can compare them honestly. The table shows what matters in practice.
| Criterion | WordPress (custom theme) | Webflow / Framer | Hand-written code | Site builder (Wix, Jimdo …) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Managing content yourself | excellent, block editor | good, built-in CMS | only with a headless CMS | good, but limited |
| Blog, guides, SEO content | the system’s strength | good | labor-intensive | restricted |
| Shop & bookings | WooCommerce, mature | limited (Webflow), barely in Framer | custom, more effort | simple, not very flexible |
| Performance | excellent – with a custom theme | excellent | maximum | often weak |
| Independence & data ownership | full: your own server, open code | hosting only with the provider | full | lock-in |
| Running costs | hosting + optional maintenance | monthly platform fee | hosting | monthly fee |
| Best for | companies with content, a shop, a team | marketing sites with lots of motion | landing pages, web apps | side projects |

KULIMO is an owner-led digital product studio in Berlin-Marzahn (Marzahner Promenade 9). Founder Mahyar Sadeghi Towhidi is a computer scientist and has worked in web development since 2014. We work with Berlin restaurants, caterers, trades businesses, and service providers – and remotely across Germany.
What that means for you: a dedicated point of contact instead of a ticket system, support in German and English, meetings in person or by video, and a studio recognized by TechBehemoths in 2025 in the categories Web Development, WordPress, and Custom Software Development.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions for our WordPress agency
How much does a WordPress website cost at KULIMO?
Websites start at a fixed price of €1,270. The exact price depends on page types, the state of your content, features (shop, booking, multiple languages, integrations), and how custom the design is. After the free intro call, you receive a written fixed-price quote – with no hourly billing after the fact.
How long does development take?
A landing page in seven days, a business website in two to eight weeks, extensive corporate websites or shops in six to ten weeks. The go-live date is stated in the quote.
Do you work with purchased themes or page builders like Elementor?
No. We build a custom theme and use the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg) with custom-developed blocks. That keeps the website fast, secure, and independent of licenses – and your team can still manage content itself.
Can I change the content myself later?
Yes, that’s the point of WordPress. The handover includes CMS training, so you can manage copy, images, posts, and pages on your own. For anything beyond that, we’re here – as part of maintenance or as a separate quote.
Is WordPress secure enough for businesses?
Yes, if it’s built and maintained properly: few, well-maintained plugins, a current PHP version, secured logins, regular updates, and tested backups. Most hacked WordPress websites are simply out of date. That’s why we offer maintenance as well.
Do you take over existing WordPress websites?
Yes – as a relaunch with content migration and redirect mapping, or by taking the site into our maintenance after a free website check. We also handle moves from site builders, Webflow, or TYPO3 to WordPress.
Where is the website hosted?
With German hosting partners such as IONOS, Strato, All-Inkl, or Hetzner – with HTTPS and a current PHP version. The contract is in your name; the website and all access credentials belong to you.
Is the website accessible and GDPR-compliant?
Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA is part of our standard – Germany’s Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) has applied to many companies offering products or services to consumers since June 28, 2025. For us, GDPR compliance means locally hosted fonts, no unsolicited third-party requests, consent only where needed, and forms that collect as little data as possible. We don’t replace legal advice; we implement what your data protection officer specifies.
Do you also build WooCommerce shops?
Yes. Products, gift cards, bookings, subscriptions – with payment methods, shipping logic, tax calculation, and a cleanly built checkout flow with mandatory information. For very large catalogs or custom platform logic, we give you an honest comparison with Shopify or a custom web app.
What sets KULIMO apart from other WordPress agencies in Berlin?
A fixed price and a fixed date instead of an hourly estimate; a custom theme instead of a template; performance, accessibility, and SEO as acceptance criteria rather than add-ons; a studio that also builds web apps and therefore knows where WordPress ends – and a founder who has been writing code himself since 2014.
