UX/UI Design Agency · Berlin
UX/UI Design Agency Berlin: interfaces users understand — and that bring in customers.
Good design doesn’t get noticed. It works.
As a UX design agency in Berlin, KULIMO designs user experiences for websites, web apps, and mobile apps: from research, information architecture, wireframes, and clickable prototypes to UI design with a design system, usability testing, and accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA. And because we develop the products ourselves, we never design anything that can’t be built. Fixed price after a free intro call.

Terms
UX is whether it works. UI is how it feels.
Together, they decide whether someone stays.
User experience (UX) answers the question of whether people reach their goal with your product — quickly, without having to think, without frustration. It is shaped by structure, navigation, wording, and response time, long before colors come into play. User interface (UI) is the visible surface: typography, color, spacing, components, motion. Good UI makes good UX tangible; bad UI can ruin it. But no UI can rescue the wrong structure.
That’s why we work in this order: first understand (who uses it, why, where does it fail), then structure (what goes where, which path leads to the goal), then design (what does it look like, how does it respond), then test (does the assumption hold), and then build. With the same team. That’s what sets a digital product studio apart from a pure design agency: we have to live with our designs, because we build them.
Typical UX problems
Visitors can’t find the price, abandon the form, don’t understand the offer, or don’t use the feature that cost the most.
Typical UI problems
Too many colors, too little contrast, unclear buttons, text in images, animations that waste time, layouts that break on smartphones.
Services
UX/UI design that can be built
UX audit
An expert review of your website or app against established usability heuristics, analytics data, and accessibility criteria. The result: a prioritized list of friction points with concrete proposed fixes — compact and quick to implement.
User research
User interviews, stakeholder conversations, analysis of support requests and analytics, competitor analysis. We find out what users do, not what they say they do.
Information architecture & user flows
Which content, which features, in what order? Page structure, navigation model, user journeys from entry point to action, all as diagrams everyone on the team understands.
Wireframes & prototypes
Rough first, then clickable: in Figma, we build prototypes that you and your users can click through before a single line of code exists. The cheapest phase for finding mistakes.
UI design & design system
Typography, color system, spacing, components with all their states, restrained motion. Documented as a design system so your product stays consistent two years from now.
Usability testing
Moderated tests with real users on a prototype or the live product: tasks, observation, analysis. Even a few participants uncover most of the serious problems.
Accessible design
Contrast, font sizes, focus states, keyboard navigation, meaning not conveyed by color alone — to WCAG 2.1 AA, as required since 2025 by the BFSG (Germany’s Accessibility Strengthening Act). Built in from the start, not retrofitted.
Conversion design
Value proposition, trust signals, forms, pricing display, calls to action, all designed around what visitors decide in the first few seconds. Conversion rate optimization
Design for apps & software
Dashboards, admin interfaces, mobile apps: organizing dense data, mapping workflows, preventing errors — for products people use for hours every day.
Process
From assumption to tested design
Every phase ends with something tangible.
Understand
Intro call, goals, target audiences, data, existing friction points. For existing products, a UX audit; for new ones, research with users and stakeholders. The result: a clear understanding of the problem and a fixed-price quote.
Structure
Information architecture, user flows, content model. This is where the quality of the product is decided, which is why we put most of our thinking into this phase.
Draft
Wireframes, then a clickable prototype in Figma. Two revision rounds included. You see and use the product before it is developed.
Test
Usability tests with users on the prototype, an accessibility review, revisions. Better to find five problems now than to get five hundred support emails after launch.
Design & hand off
UI design, a design system with components and states, and specifications for development — or implementation by us, seamlessly within the same team.

Work
Products we designed and built
Data-heavy web apps are the toughest school of UX: this is where you find out whether an interface holds up for hours every day.
Web app
Car dealership CRM
Vehicles, customers, appointments, quotes: one workspace for sales.
Web app
Vehicle appraiser web app
Appraisal workflow from inspection to finished document.
Web app
Construction project management
Projects, schedules, documents, and stakeholders in one place.
Web app
Restaurant management
Reservations, staff, orders, all organized digitally.
Accessibility
Accessible design is good design — and since 2025, it’s mandatory.
Germany’s Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) has applied to many consumer-facing digital services since June 28, 2025. The benchmark is WCAG 2.1 at level AA. For UX/UI design, that means in concrete terms:
Contrast 4.5:1
For body text; 3:1 for large text and UI controls. We check every color combination in the design system, not only once it’s in the browser.
Visible focus
Every element can be reached by keyboard, and focus is clearly visible. We plan for this in the prototype already.
Meaning not by color alone
Errors, states, and hints carry text or an icon. Red alone isn’t enough.
Structure before looks
Heading hierarchy, landmarks, labeled forms: screen readers and Google read the same structure.

Cost
What UX/UI design at KULIMO costs
A fixed price instead of a day-rate estimate. After the intro call, you know what the phase costs and what you’ll have in hand at the end.
UX audit
A compact starting point for existing websites and apps: findings, prioritization, proposed fixes. Fixed price based on the size of the product.
UX/UI for websites
Included as part of a website project. Websites start from €1,270 at a fixed price; business websites take 2–8 weeks.
UX/UI for web apps & software
Research, IA, prototype, design system, testing: fixed price after the intro call. Simple web apps are ready to use in 4–8 weeks, including development.
Design system
For teams that continue development in-house: tokens, components, guidelines, Figma library. Fixed price based on the number of components.
The main price drivers are the number of screens and flows, the depth of research, the number of user tests, and whether a design system is to be built. For larger projects, you pay in milestones. Background: How poor conversion design destroys leads every day.
Nobody says “the UX was great.” People say “that was easy.” That’s the goal.
FAQ
Questions about our UX design agency in Berlin
How much does UX/UI design at KULIMO cost?
A fixed price, set after the free intro call. A UX audit is the compact starting point; UX/UI for websites is included in website projects from €1,270; for web apps and software, the price depends on screens, flows, research depth, and testing. No day-rate billing after the fact.
When does a product really need UX design?
Whenever people are supposed to reach a goal with it, so almost always. It pays off especially when visitors bounce, forms are abandoned, support requests pile up, or internal software goes unused. A UX audit shows within days where things get stuck.
What does a UX/UI project with KULIMO look like?
Understand (audit or research) → Structure (information architecture, user flows) → Draft (wireframes, clickable prototype in Figma, two revision rounds) → Test (usability tests, accessibility) → Design and hand off (UI, design system, specification), or build it directly.
Can UX be improved for existing products, too?
Yes, often with the best ratio of effort to impact. A UX audit prioritizes the friction points; many of them can be fixed in a targeted way without rebuilding the product. For larger overhauls, there’s a relaunch plan.
What tools do you use?
Figma for wireframes, prototypes, UI, and design systems, with access for your team on request. For testing and analysis, we use analytics data, moderated user tests, and accessibility testing tools, depending on the project. Development is done with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Swift, or WordPress, depending on the product.
Do you run usability tests with real users?
Yes, on the prototype or the live product. Even a few participants uncover most of the serious problems. Together with you, we recruit participants from your target audience: customers, employees, prospects.
What is a design system, and do we need one?
A design system is the documented collection of your colors, fonts, spacing, and components, along with rules for using them. It pays off as soon as several people or teams work on a product, or the product grows over the years. For a small website, a lean style guide is usually enough.
Do you also design mobile apps?
Yes: iOS, Android, and web apps. We design according to each platform’s conventions and, on request, develop the apps ourselves as well: App development Berlin.
What sets KULIMO apart from other UX/UI agencies?
We design and develop in the same team, so we don’t design anything that can’t be built, and we don’t build anything that hasn’t been thought through. Add to that a fixed price, accessibility as standard, concrete artifacts after every phase, and experience from data-heavy web apps.
Do you also work with our in-house development team?
Gladly. In that case, we deliver Figma files, the design system, and a developer specification with tokens, measurements, and behavior — and we’re available for questions during implementation.
