Situation · Offline app · Berlin & Germany-wide

Your team works where there’s no signal. The app keeps working.

As a progressive web app, the application stores entries locally and syncs as soon as the connection is back. For a clearly defined process, the first productive release is ready in six to twelve weeks.

01

The situation

Your team is out on construction sites, at customers’ premises or in the field – in basements, shell buildings or rural areas where the signal drops. So far that means paper notes, photos on private phones and catching up at a desk in the evening.

Typical sign: an online-only application won’t load once the signal is gone, entries get lost, and nobody in the office knows what has already been done outside. Meanwhile Excel lists creep back in as a workaround.

02

Our solution

We build your application as a progressive web app: installable on the home screen, no app store, offline via a service worker. Without a connection, entries are stored locally and sync automatically as soon as there’s a signal again. Often a combination is right – a web app for the office, a PWA for the field.

Our own product, the construction project management app, shows what this looks like in practice: site documentation, inventory and logs on any device, fully usable offline on site – developed by us, not a client project. For your process we build a solution of your own, hosted in German data centres or on your servers.

Process & details

Five stages to your own field app:

  1. 01Process analysis
  2. 02MVP scoping
  3. 03Design & prototype
  4. 04Development in stages
  5. 05Operations & growth

Tell us who captures what out in the field – photos, defects, times, materials – and what needs to reach the office. Offline capability and synchronisation between device and server are a cost driver of their own, so they belong in the process analysis and MVP scoping from the start.

Questions from search

Frequently asked questions

  • Does a field service app work without internet?

Yes, as a PWA. Data is stored locally on the device and synced as soon as the connection returns.

  • Is there an app for site documentation and acceptance inspections?

Yes – our construction project management app is an own product of KULIMO: progress, defects and acceptances are captured on site with photos, even without a signal. If it doesn’t fit your process, we build a solution of your own.

  • Does the app have to be in the App Store?

No. A PWA is installed straight onto the home screen. A native app only pays off when camera, sensors or background processes are used heavily.

  • How do we know the app is being used in the field?

From the share of mobile use and the number of workarounds: if Excel lists start running alongside again, a feature is missing. We track exactly these metrics in operation.

  • How long until the first version?

For a clearly defined process we estimate six to twelve weeks to the first productive release.
